APOLLO Apollo was purchased by Earnsdale Farm in October, 2007. He is a 16.2 hh chestnut gelding, aged 9 years, now rising 10 years old. He is an Irish Draft/TB horse by Twemlows Ivor Schwarzkopf (Big Ivor) out of an Irish Draft/Cob cross mare. Apollo is a lovely horse to attend to in his stable and in the school. He has a lovely calm temperament and seems to take most things in his stride. Apollo has done some show jumping in his past life and has settled down very well to life at Earnsdale. After almost six months daily schooling work at Earnsdale, he is now being ridden by clients on private day time and group evening lessons. He is also on the riding list for horses at the BHS Stage I examination to be held at Earnsdale on Friday, 4th April this year. Apollo is still not suitable for complete beginner clients, but he is now able to be ridden by novice riders who have achieved a balanced position on the flat. He will also take a novice rider over small jumps in a settled, calm manner which is at the same time practised and forward. Apollo is a great favourite of Instructor, Diana, and is shown below being ridden by Diana in a double bridle, which Diana has been experimenting with and which she finds gives a lighter and more elevated ride.
